🤔 Why is ChatGPT the Talk of the Town?
AI is the next big thing in town and that's scaring a lot of people. But the rise of AI may not necessarily be scary. Here's why.
This tweet by Kunal Shah accurately sums up the current craze around generative AI.Â
After the metaverse, Web3 and crypto, the new buzzword that has taken over social media is generative AI.Â
🚨 Wait, jargon alert! What is generative AI?Â
And why has it suddenly become so popular?

🤖 The Buzz Around Generative AI
Generative AI can be compared to a master chef in a kitchen.
Just like the chef uses their knowledge and experience to create unique dishes, generative AI uses its algorithms and data to generate new and original content. Just as the chef can constantly learn and adapt to create new and innovative dishes, generative AI can constantly learn and adapt to generate new and innovative content.
Full disclosure:Â the above passage was written by ChatGPT, the generative AI bot that is taking over the internet, with just a little bit of editing.Â
We just gave it the prompt: "Explain Generative AI with a metaphor."
Yes, that's what generative AI can do: create content just with a prompt. And this does not just mean written content. We also mean images, videos, subtitles, and any other content format you can think of.Â
Look at this image we created by giving Dall-E, another generative AI, a random prompt:
Now, these abilities are nothing short of miraculous. Which is why everyone is going gaga over these generative AIs.Â
In fact, less than a week after ChatGPT has launched, it has gotten 1 million users!Â
But history has proven that not all that is hyped is worth it. Let us take a deeper look into the pros and cons of Generative AI.
🤓 The Pros of Generative AI
Generative AI can create blog posts, marketing copies, academic papers and even poems in just minutes.Â
Take a look at this poem that ChatGPT wrote for us:
So, it's going to save us a lot of time. And the best part? It can also write code. This could help startups build and launch new features very easily.Â
Microsoft VS Code has added Copilot (an AI-based tool that can help you write code faster), TikTok and Canva have announced the launch of a text-based image generator, and even Shutterstock is considering integrating Dall-E into its platform.Â
In fact, the AI-powered no code tools market (tools that help you create websites and apps without writing code) has already reached $2.5 billion, and is growing at a 28.1% CAGR.Â
What's more, this would help startups build faster, without spending a lot of time and effort to look for the right copywriters, graphic designers and other creative professionals.Â
And better yet! ChatGPT could also be a great learning tool. It could even be better than Google and Wikipedia sometimes.Â
Look at this definition of Zero-point energy that Google gave us:
And look at ChatGPT's explanation:Â
You can clearly see which one is better and more fun, right?Â
Many people already seem to be replacing Google with ChatGPT. And that's where things get a little scary.Â
😰 Cons of Generative AI
You see, the thing with Generative AI is that it is a little too human.
When it doesn't know a particular answer, it starts BS-ing like an unprepared student at a Viva.Â
Look at what it wrote about ReadOn:
And about our writer:Â
We can confirm that none of the above is true.Â
So, using ChatGPT as Google is definitely not recommended.Â
And we're not saying this, ChatGPT said it itself:
Plus, this AI can be used to generate toxic comments and spread misinformation.Â
But this is not it. The biggest concern with the dawn of AI is that it could dominate the world.Â
Even geniuses like Elon Musk subscribe to this theory.Â
But most actual AI experts claim that there is no chance AI will go all 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' on us and try to wipe out humanity. It just doesn't seem possible according to the laws of physics.Â
The second biggest concern:Â we will lose our jobs.Â
Now, will AI do all the writing and explaining we do? Will it replace us?Â
Well, if you go through ChatGPT answers a little closely, you'll realise that the AI cannot do in-depth research like journalists do.
Plus, the AI will take some time and practice to bring the flavour of storytelling that actual writers can.Â
But on the whole, it is set to create more jobs than it removes.Â
So, it may take a lot of reskilling and upskilling, but a lot of us aren't going to lose our jobs to AI.Â
What's more, AI is set to lead to a 26% ($15.7 trillion) increase in global GDP by 2030. This is greater than the GDP of India and China combined!Â
So, it looks like AI is going to be good for the world.Â
But will it really be? Do you think AI will make creative professionals redundant?Â
âš¡ In a line: Generative AI is catching a lot of eyeballs right now and it could be good for a lot more than just timepass.
💡Quick question: What professions do you think will become redundant after AI becomes commonplace?
